Jose Mourinho is set to hand Alexis Sanchez a new role at Manchester United, according to reports.
The Red Devils boss has been utilising the 29-year-old forward out wide this season, but the former Arsenal man has been struggling for form.
In Manchester United’s last game against Newcastle, in which they came from behind to win 3-2 in dramatic circumstances, Sanchez ended up playing through the middle.
It is from this position that he not only linked up well with Romelu Lukaku up top but he managed to score the all-important winning goal to secure all three points for the home side.
According to Bleacher Report, Mourinho liked what he saw from the Chilean and has plans to play him through the middle in future matches.
The vast majority of the Manchester United team are on international duty this week, with the break coming at a good time in their season.
The Red Devils started brightly, beating Leicester City on the opening day of the new season, but have since struggled for consistency.
