'13 Reasons Why' Star Katherine Langford Joins Whodunnit Murder Mystery 'Knives Out'

Katherine Langford – widely known for portraying Hannah Baker on the Netflix original 13 Reasons Why – is set to star in an Agatha Christie-esque murder mystery. Knives Out, premiering November 27, 2019, will feature a star-studded ensemble including Langford, Daniel Craig, and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Katherine Lanford recently starred in Love, Simon and Cursed. She will also be in Avengers: Endgame, coming to theaters April 26, 2019. Thoug the details of Katherine Langford’s role in Knives Out are still unknown, the story will follow a detective (Daniel Craig) tasked with solving a modern-day murder mystery.

Considering Knives Out will harken back to the film noir murder mysteries of the mid-1900s, it’s likely that Langford will play one of the several potential murderers in the film.

The impressive ‘Knives Out’ cast

As mentioned above, Daniel Craig will take the reigns as the detective on the case. Known widely for personifying James Bond of the 21st century, Craig has also starred in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Defiance, and Greenhouse.

Craig is joined by Scream Queen’s Jamie Lee Curtis, who is no stranger to mystery and suspense. Curtis is well known for starring in Prom Night, True Lies, and the Halloween series.

40 years ago…. on this day Halloween was released and I came out of the closet…… Alive. 40 years later, I’m still alive but now I’m kicking ass. Thanks to John Carpenter and Debra Hill and Rick Rosenthal and Steve Miner and now David Gordon Green for giving me such good direction and guidance in all my Halloween films. @halloweenmovie Kim Gottlieb

Craig, Langford, and Curtis will be joined by Captain America himself, Chris Evans, as well as our favorite von Trapp, Christopher Plummer. Rounding out the ensemble are Toni Collette, Michael Shannon, Riki Lindhome (Another Period, Garfunkel and Oates), and Don Johnson.

The all-star cast of Knives Out is led by Rian Johnson. Serving as writer and director on the film, Rian Johnson is widely known for his work on Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Looper, and Brick.

‘Knives Out’ and Katherine Langford’s other upcoming projects

Langford, after announcing that she will not be returning for season three of 13 Reasons Why, has had no issue landing some major film roles. However, Knives Out will be the actress’s most significant film role to date.

While starring in seasons one and two of 13 Reasons Why, Langford caught the attention of critics and everyday audiences alike. In addition to the upcoming Avengers: Endgame and Knives Out, Langford is set to star in the Netflix original Cursed.

Cursed will follow Nimue (Langford), a young teenage sorceress who encounters Arthur on his quest to find an ancient and powerful sword. With a Netflix original and two major films on the way, it looks like Katherine Langford won’t be slowing down any time soon.

Given the actress’s commendable performance in 13 Reasons Why and her lovable turn as Leah Burke in Love, Simon, here’s to hoping that we see Langford lead a big budget Hollywood film come 2020.

Before 13 Reasons Why, Katherine Langford had virtually only appeared in a few shorts – Story of Miss Oxygen, Daughter, and Imperfect Quadrant – from 2015 to 2017.

Langford’s career, since 13 Reasons Why, has skyrocketed. Moving quickly from small roles in shorts to major characters on hit shows, Langford now joins the likes of Craig, Curtis, and Evans for Knives Out. Now, we wait and see what the next three years have in store for the young actress.
