“Drake & Josh” fans rejoice!
The once at-odds co-stars Drake Bell and Josh Peck are shopping a new show, Bell revealed Thursday.
And it’s not your typical reboot, the 32-year-old actor told People Magazine from the iHeartRadio Music Awards red carpet. “[The show] is going to be way more creative, way cooler than just you know the college years or something like that,” he explained, while keeping the overall concept hush-hush.
“I’m excited,” Bell said, adding that the duo is in talks with several networks.
A sitcom about a new pair of odd-couple stepbrothers who get used to sharing the same roof, “Drake & Josh” ran on Nickelodeon from 2004-2007. The show was an undeniable hit, but in 2017, fans were crushed to learn that the charismatic comedians — who had so much onscreen chemistry — were not exactly besties in real life.
Bell was not pleased when he learned he was not invited to Peck’s June 2017 wedding. He tweeted — and then deleted — his thoughts on the snub, as US Weekly reported at the time.
“True colors have come out today,” Bell wrote. “Message is loud and clear. Ties are officially cut. I’ll miss you brother.”
Meanwhile, a source told US Weekly that Peck was “really hurt” by Bell’s public response, explaining that “Josh had a very small wedding” and the onetime close colleagues hadn’t spoken in years.
Fortunately, the two actors were able to repair the rift shortly thereafter, in August 2017, with Peck posting a YouTube vlog about his reunion with Bell at the MTV Video Music Awards. The video shows Drake & Josh walking arm-in-arm, with Peck saying coyly: “You’re welcome, childhood.”
Now, apparently, the feud is ancient history.
On the prospect of working with Peck again, Bell told People: ‘“We’ve known each other for so long, and it really is once in a lifetime in this industry that you get to work with somebody and it clicks like that.”
How’s that for brotherly love?
