Emma Stone reveals her name was inspired by the Spice Girls

The Spice Girls reunion tour everyone — except Victoria Beckham — has been talking about for months is finally official.

In case you didn’t know, Emma Stone is a major Spice Girls fan – so much so that her name was inspired by one of its members.

On Thursday’s episode of “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” the actress revealed she started going by a different name thanks to the ’90s girl group.

“My real name is Emily, but I wanted to be called Emma because of ‘Baby Spice’ and guess what? Now I am,” she laughed. “So that’s like pretty messed up.”

She continued, “It wasn’t necessarily because of her, but yes, in second grade, did I go up to the teacher and ask her to call me Emma? Yes, I did. And was it because of Emma Lee Bunton from the Spice Girls? Yes, it was.”

She also said she’s seen the group in concert twice and plans to get tickets to their upcoming tour.

“I will be going to that!” she said. “Somehow – I don’t know how. I don’t think tickets are on sale yet, but I’m going to figure it out.”
