Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are getting ready to welcome their first child. But with a new baby comes some major changes in life. The two are both extremely excited to be parents, but how will the arrival of their new baby affect their royal lives?
The royal couple will welcome a baby in late April
Harry and Meghan’s romance has moved pretty quickly. The couple originally started dating in 2016, but only about a year and half later, they were already engaged. Royals don’t typically have long engagements, and Meghan and Harry planned their wedding in only six months. They wed in May 2018 and had expressed interest in starting a family soon after they got married. Only about two months passed before Meghan got pregnant. The couple announced in October that they would welcome a baby in spring 2019. Meghan said she is due in late April, but other than that, very few details about Baby Sussex have been released.
Harry and Meghan will likely take some time off when the baby is born
Once Meghan and Harry welcome their new baby, they will probably take some time off from royal duties to spend time with their little one. Not only do they need some quality time with Baby Sussex, but they’ll also need to adjust to parenthood — sleepless nights and loads of diapers mean things will definitely be different, and throwing tons of royal engagements into the mix would probably only drive them crazy. Plus, Kate Middleton and Prince William took time off when each of their children was born, so it would make sense that Meghan and Harry would do the same.
The couple will still have plenty of royal duties, but they’ll schedule them around Baby Sussex’s needs
Meghan and Harry want to be very hands-on parents; they don’t even want to hire a nanny. The couple already does their own grocery shopping, and they want to continue that as well as drive their child to and from school every day when he or she gets old enough. While they’ll still make regular appearances for the royal family, they won’t want to commit to engagements that would affect their ability to parent their children. Now that Will and Kate’s children are getting older, the royal spotlight will shift a bit to focus more on Will’s family, so Harry and Meghan hopefully won’t have to sacrifice too much quality time with their kids.
Harry and Meghan hope to make their royal lives even more private once they become parents
This royal couple already wants to cut down on the spotlight
as much as possible. Harry has previously recalled how he hated being watched
so closely as a child, which is why he hopes to keep his child’s life as normal
as possible. The couple has already decided
to leave Kensington Palace in order to live a more private life, and Harry
and Meghan are probably hoping to distance themselves even more once their baby
arrives. Right now, Harry is the most well-liked royal of them all, so the
public adores him. But as Will’s family grows up and Harry begins to raise his
own family, he hopes to retreat from the spotlight even more.
