Social media users horrified as not everyone cleans entire dish

‘What monsters don’t wash the ENTIRE plate?’ Social media users are horrified as it emerges not everyone cleans the bottom of their dishes

  • Twitter debate sparked after Bon Appétit shared an article about unclean dishes
  • Said world is divided into those who wash bottom of plates and those who don’t
  • Many users struggled to understand how people would fall into latter category

Social media users have been left horrified after it emerged not everyone washes the bottom of their dirty dishes.

The furious debate was sparked on Twitter on Saturday after US food magazine Bon Appétit shared an article begging the public to ‘wash the bottom of their dishes’.

Alongside the piece, they wrote: ‘There are two kinds of people in this world: Those who wash the bottom of their dishes and those who don’t.’

But it appeared many struggled to understand why people wouldn’t clean the entire dish, even branding those who fall into the latter category ‘monsters’.

Taking to social media one user asked: ‘Who doesn’t wash the bottoms of their dishes and lives to adulthood?

‘Plates stack… what’s on the top of one sticks to the bottom of another one… that’s just wrong on so many levels’.

Another commented: ‘People don’t wash the bottom of their dishes. Now I understand why my mother wouldn’t let us eat at other people’s houses’.

A third added: ‘What monsters don’t wash the ENTIRE PLATE????

‘Don’t have roommates. Ever,’ another wrote.

Others mused that those who don’t wash the bottom of their dishes must be part of the population who avoid cleaning their legs in the shower – a debate raised earlier this month.

‘People who don’t wash the bottom of their dishes don’t wash their legs in the shower either’, joked one.

Another added: ‘I knew a person who never washed the handles of cooking and eating utensils. It never occurred to her until I mentioned something that the handle too needs soap please.’

One user, however, admitted it had ‘never occurred’ to her to wash the entire dish.

Much to the dismay of others, she confessed: ‘This has 100 per cent never occurred to me’.
