The much-loved duo, known as Moustache Mountain, took on Zack Gibson and James Drake in the NXT UK’s first-ever Takeover show at Blackpool’s Empress Ballroom.
And they donned red and black tights for the occasion in tribute of the iconic 1980s tag partnerships.
‘British Bulldog’ Davey Boy Smith and the ‘Dynamite Kidd’ Tommy Billington shot to worldwide fame in the 1980s in WWE.
Unfortunately both men have now passed with neither yet to be inducted into the company’s Hall of Fame.
Billington died last month on his 60th birthday after several years of battling ill health.
And Smith died in 2002 after suffering a heart attack aged 39.
It was not only their ring-wear Moustache Mountain decided to honour their heroes with.
Midway through the match they both even managed to perform both
Bulldog’s famous powerslam and Kidd’s flying headbutt.
Unfortunately Bate and Seven’s look to the past failed to bring them the gold as their NXT TakeOver: Blackpool ended in heartbreak.
It was Gibson and Drake who emerged triumphant to become the brands first-ever tag-team champions.
