Rangers boss Steven Gerrard swoops for Man City starlet Ritchie-Hosler

The 16-year-old’s Light Blues pre-contract was confirmed by commentator Tom Miller during Rangers TV coverage of today’s 0-0 draw with St Johnstone.

Ritchie-Hosler has been a key player in City’s U-16s side.

But the forward will swap Manchester for Glasgow at the end of the season to join the Gers academy.

The signing comes less than a month after the Light Blues confirmed the capture of Nathan Young-Coombes from Chelsea.

Young-Coombes, who turned 16 last month, has already impressed Rangers fans with his stunning displays in the Alkass International Cup.

Kai Kennedy, also 16, was named player of the tournament.

The signing of Ritchie-Hosler comes nearly two years after Rangers appointed former City youth chief Mark Allen as the club’s director of football.

Rangers are next in action on Wednesday against Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup while City travel to Schalke on the same day in the Champions League.
