Kitchener, Cambridge, Waterloo declare snow events, parking ban begins at midnight

With hazardous conditions in the forecast for Tuesday, the cities of Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo have all declared snow events.

Beginning at midnight, cars parked on city streets are at risk of being tagged with an $80 fine or being towed.

Waterloo and Cambridge have issued 48 hour snow events while Kitchener’s is currently for 24 hours but the city will reassess going forward.

Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning which is calling for 10-20 cm of precipitation within the region potentially in the form of snow, ice pellets and freezing rain. There are also expected to be heavy winds as well.

The cities declare the snow events in order to help staff clear the roads as quickly as possible.
