Amanda Holden has reportedly claimed that Phillip Schofield blocked her from landing a top presenting job.

Insiders revealed to The Sun that the Britain’s Got Talent judge, 48, believes the telly favourite, 57, scuppered her chances of filling in on This Morning during his co-star Holly Willoughby’s absence, while she hosted I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here.

Reports have long been rife about troubles between the TV hosts, with the latest detail of the story claiming Amanda headed to the top by lobbying ITV executives over the animosity after Phil allegedly pushed for Rochelle Humes to take the job.

The Sun Online reports that Amanda had already been told she had the job before the chance was taken away – in what she deemed was a campaign from Phillip.

A former daytime TV executive told the publication: ‘Phillip actively campaigned for Rochelle Humes, 30, to get the job despite Amanda being more experienced – and having been told privately she’d got the gig.

MailOnline has approached Amanda, Phillip and This Morning representatives for comment.

Just this month Heart FM radio host Amanda hinted at some animosity between herself and Phillip. When asked the three things she would least like to find in her home, she replied: ‘Spiders, flies and Phillip Schofield’.

It was reported back in November that Amanda had reportedly confronted Phillip after feeling ‘let down’ after she failed to land the This Morning presenting gig while Holly was away.

Instead, former The Saturdays singer Rochelle landed the coveted job alongside Phillip while his regular co-host Holly took over Ant McPartlin’s hosting duties for I’m A Celeb while he took an extended break from TV.

New role: The Sun claimed the alleged confrontation took place during an advert break when the judge was interviewed by Phil and Holly on This Morning in October, days after Rochelle was confirmed to be stepping in

The Sun claimed the alleged confrontation took place during an advert break when the judge was interviewed by Phil and Holly on This Morning in October, days after Rochelle was confirmed to be stepping in.

Amanda appeared on This Morning to talk to the award-winning presenting duo about her work with charity Tommy’s on October 8.

A source told The Sun: ‘She made it clear that she felt very let down. He was lost for words but didn’t have much time to respond to Amanda’s claims because the show was going back on air.

‘Easier to manage’: A former daytime TV executive told the publication: ‘Phillip actively campaigned for Rochelle Humes to get the job despite Amanda being more experienced (pictured in November 2018)

Tension: Amanda ‘confronted Phillip after believing he was the reason she didn’t get the This Morning presenting job’ while Holly starred on I’m A Celebrity (pictured in October 2018)

‘Neither of them realised that Amanda could be overheard by most of the team because she was still wearing her mic pack.’

The Sun made further claims that Amanda allegedly found out she didn’t get the job when she was taken out for lunch by ITV executives.

‘Amanda was shocked. During the lunch with ITV executives, they let slip they thought the decision had been heavily influenced by Phil and that he had thrown a spanner in the works.’ The insider shared with the newspaper.

Big responsibility: Holly Willoughby took over Ant McPartlin’s hosting duties for I’m A Celeb (pictured in London, October 2018)

Amanda stepped into Holly’s shoes when the Celebrity Juice star took a year off the show to have her third baby five years ago in October 2014, and has joined the show on other occasions.

In 2015, Phillip confessed he found working alongside Amanda was ‘occasionally quite scary’.

He told Heat magazine at the time: ‘Amanda kept me on my toes. She has a faulty edit button and she forgets she’s on the telly, which is enormously endearing and funny, but occasionally quite scary.’
