Her statement skirt began in a deep purple hue before it slowly transformed from pink to red then back to purple to sky blue in an ombré effect.

Cate’s gown was sure to let her skirt do the talking while the bodice was distinctly demure with a black polo neck silhouette.

However, the acclaimed star was sure to add a fashionable edge to her ensemble as she flashed her bare back in the fashion forward haute couture number.

Accentuating her alabaster skin, she applied a dusting of rose blush across her cheeks and a soft pink lipstick.

Monday night was all about the film BlacKkKlansman which is comedic crime story from the director Spike Lee.

The film centres around an African-American police officer from Colorado who successfully managed to infiltrate the local Ku Klux Klan and became the head of the local chapter.

While Lee was famously overlooked for the Palme d’Or in 1989 for Do the Right Thing, his latest offering hit the right note with attendees who gave the film a 10 minute standing ovation.

The Hollywood Reporter reported that applause broke out six times during the screening, ‘followed by four minutes of applause during the credits and a six-minute standing ovation.’

The film stars John David Washington, Adam Driver and Topher Grace, who were on hand at the premiere alongside Lee.

The publication also reported that the film’s final sequence is one of the most emotional finales to hit Cannes, interjecting real footage from the harrowing events in Charlottesville in 2017.
