The NBA might be able to resume its season in July and all games might be played at Disney World.
The Walt Disney Company has confirmed that it is in talks with the NBA to continue the season at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.
The NBA season was suspended on March 11 due to the coronavirus pandemic and it’s unknown how the league will proceed with the rest of the season. Some are speculating that the season will pick up where it left off while others think they might go straight to playoffs.
“The Walt Disney Company has a great, long-standing relationship with the NBA. We are engaged in conversations with them about completing the 2019-2020 season at the ESPN Wide World of Sports at Walt Disney World Resort,” a Disney spokesperson told ABC News.
“Our priority continues to be the health and safety of all involved, and we are working with public health experts and government officials on a comprehensive set of guidelines to ensure that appropriate medical protocols and protections are in place,” said Mike Bass, a spokesman for the NBA.
The ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex has three arenas and hotel accommodations are available for players and staff.
