Gogglebox’s Malone family is in mourning after their beloved pet dog Frank died over the weekend.
The Manchester-based Channel 4 favourites confirmed the tragic news, with son Shaun, 22, revealing they’d been forced to put the 11 year old to sleep.
"After 11 years with the family it was so hard but best thing to do for him. We’ve had to put my dog frank to sleep. R.I.P frankie," wrote the heartbroken TV star, along with a touching shot of Frank enjoying a nap on his owner’s stomach.
The doggie was a regular on the show, and was often seen curled up on the sofa with his head in Shaun’s lap as he reviewed the weeks’ TV with his family.
They also have three rottweilers who love to scavenge for snacks while their owners are distracted.
Frank first came to live with the Malones as a pup, having been rescued by the RSPCA, and Shaun reached out to the charity to share the sad news and to thank it for bringing them together.
"11 years ago my family got a dog frank from you and unfortunately he has had to be put to sleep today," he wrote.
"Thank you for letting us have him."
The charity was quick to reply with its condolences, thanking Shaun for giving the little fella a happy home.
"It’s sad to hear this Shaun but we’re very glad that Frank was given a second chance and lived a happy life with you," a spokesman said.
And fans were equally gutted, sending kind words and thoughts to the family.
"Heartbroken for you all know what you ate going through and it’s the worst thing ever," wrote one.
"Sorry to hear this news. We have seen frank on TV a few times.. Rest gently Frank… Love to all of you," added another.
