‘Harry Potter’ Broadway show hosts two star-studded parties

With all the magic onstage at the opening of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” on Broadway, producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender managed an impressive behind-the-scenes trick: throwing not one, but two, separate and entirely different parties on Sunday in celebration.

Following Part 1 of the two-part play at the redesigned Lyric Theatre, guests boarded double decker buses to Cipriani 42, which was transformed into a Hogwarts dining hall.

The opening crowd included Whoopi Goldberg, Glenn Close, Chris Rock, Anna Wintour, Liev Schreiber, Ellen Burstyn, Stephen Daldry, “Justice League” star Ezra Miller and Emma Thompson.

After Part 2, guests were astonished to find Cipriani changed again for what one guest dubbed, “a shameless dance party” that raged till 3:30 a.m.

Society DJ Marjorie “Mad Marj” Gubelmann spun tunes that had Jamie Parker (Harry Potter) dancing wildly with his Hermione, Noma Dumezweni.

All told, the play and the partying went more than 12 hours.
