Holly Willoughby slurs her words on This Morning

Holly Willoughby slurs her word as she attempts to close This Morning after squiffy presenter samples SEVEN rosé wines during boozy final segment

Holly Willoughby almost lost her composure on Monday after downing her favourite alcoholic beverage on the latest edition of This Morning.

The squiffy presenter stumbled over her lines as she closed the show with co-host Phillip Schofield, shortly after sampling a variety of rosé wines during its final segment.

Joined by wine expert Helen McGinn, who assisted the pair remotely from her New Forest home, Holly and Phil were on hand to pass judgement on which were the best value for money following reports that sales of rosé have rocketed by 400 percent during lockdown.

Here we go: Holly Willoughby almost lost her composure on Monday after downing rosé wine on the latest edition of This Morning

Having admitted the summer favourite is her preferred tipple of choice and with no less than seven different varieties to sample, Holly, 39, got stuck into the task at hand.

Working their way through the line-up, the pair were given the opportunity to try the new signature rosé from Australian pop star Kylie Minogue, and both admitted it had a distinctive flavour.

However the segment soon went awry when Holly wrapped things up by highlighting what to expect on Tuesday’s show, only to mangle her words while introducing Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor as a guest.

Pausing to compose herself, Holly appeared to trip over Sally’s multi-syllabic surname before bursting into fits of laughter.

The blunder prompted further belly-laughs from Phil, who took the reins as his visibly embarrassed co-host shook her head and placed her hands over her mouth as the credits started to roll.

Earlier in the show Holly revealed the embarrassing moment she fell through a chair and ended up with her legs in the air while on a Zoom chat with Phil.

The presenter reunited with her co-host during their half-term break for a virtual murder mystery party hosted by Phil’s family at his Oxfordshire home.

Returning to This Morning on Monday, he recalled the hilarious mishap, telling viewers: ‘The best moment – thank goodness I looked up – and as I looked up, Holly disappeared out of shot. Completely fell off your chair.’

Laughing, Holly explained: ‘Yeah. The best wifi is where the kids sit to do their homework, so I was perched on one of the kids’ tripp trapp chair type things.

‘So obviously where I am sitting on it, it’s moving… It’s moving… It’s edging back and suddenly it gave out and it was like somebody opened a trap door beneath me!’

Holly, who is mother to Harry, 11, Belle, nine, and Chester, five, with husband Dan Baldwin, 45, was dressed as a jockey for the evening and said her helmet saved her from a nasty injury from her eldest son’s drum kit.

She explained: ‘I went back, my feet went up so my feet were just in Zoom. And thank god I had the riding helmet on as I went back and hit the drum kit – Harry plays the drums!’

Phil said: ‘She disappeared out of shot, her legs shot up and she gave herself her own ‘ba dum tsh’ as her head hit the drum kit. I wish we recorded it!’
