Kelsey Grammer’s daughter Spencer has spoken out after she was caught up in a row at a restaurant in New York.
The Rick and Morty star thanked hospital staff for helping her and her friend after they both suffered knife wounds.
The actress, who says she was ‘attempting to prevent the altercation from escalating’ believes they will ‘recover quickly’.
In a statement shared with Metro.co.uk Spencer said: ‘My friend and I did what anyone else would do in the same situation. Several others, predominantly women, were also attempting to prevent the altercation from escalating.
‘I sustained a laceration on my arm, and my friend was stabbed in the back, but thankfully he suffered no serious internal injuries. We expect to recover quickly.
‘We want to thank the first responders and the staff at Bellevue Hospital, who provided us with excellent care. They fought an incredible battle this year. It was very moving for us to have the opportunity to thank them in person.’
According to Page Six, the 36-year-old was enjoying an evening at The Black Ant when a drunk man stumbled into the restaurant and demanded a table. He became irate when he was turned away, and an argument with staff soon turned physical.
An eyewitness told the publication ‘Everyone jumped out of their seats. About 15 people maybe. Everyone was trying to pull them apart. It looked like there was a full on brawl.’
The actress is best known for her voiceover role on Rick and Morty, as Summer Smith, and also played Casey Cartwright on ABC comedy Greek.
She is the oldest daughter of Kelsey – whose acting CV includes Cheers and spin-off Frasier, as well as a recurring role on The Simpsons – from his marriage to ex-wife Doreen Alderman.
He is also father to Kandace, Mason, Jude, Faith, Kelsey, and Auden.
