Lil Peep's mother sues tour company for late rapper's overdose death

Lil Peep’s mother sues tour company for late rapper’s overdose death at the age of 21… amid claims drug usage was ‘encouraged by management’

Lil Peep’s mother Liza Womack filed a lawsuit on Monday claiming that her son’s management team and tour company played a part in his overdose death in 2017.

Womack claimed First Access Entertainment and people associated with the company plied the late rapper with drugs and illegal substances, and usage was ‘encouraged by management,’ according to TMZ.

The rapper died on Nov. 15, 2017 at the age of 21 following an overdose from a combination of drugs including fentanyl and alprazolam (Xanax), and Liza is suing for unspecified damages.

His mother detailed how a manager ‘gifted a bottle of pills’ to the Spotlight singer during a group dinner in London while on The Peep Show tour.

Documents claimed that ‘rampant drug use’ was prevalent throughout 2017, leading up to his untimely death toward the end of the year.

Peep — who’s real name was Gustav Elijah Åhr — was ‘regularly supplied with Xanax, Ketamine and other drugs while on the road.’

While Ketamine is routinely used to treat chronic pain and also begin the anesthesia process, it’s usage as a recreational drug has grown significantly through the years with hallucinogenic effects.

His mother claimed that Peep ‘repeatedly expressed’ interest in quitting the tour because he was ‘physically and emotionally drained,’ but management continued to encourage him to go on stage and perform.

She said that he was ‘barely able to communicate, let alone perform, due to his use of drugs’ during a tour stop on May 10 in Los Angeles.

She stated that one of his managers, Belinda Mercer, told him to take ‘an excessive amount of Xanax’ before a show in El Paso so that he would get sick and insurance would ‘cover the cancellation of the show.’

Womack also claimed that her son had ‘a sexual relationship’ with Mercer in addition to their professional affairs.

The Star Shopping musician was found dead on his tour bus before a performance in Tucson, Arizona.

A toxicology report from the Pima County Office of the Medical Examiner was released in December and showed that he tested positive for cannabis, cocaine and the painkiller Tramadol at the time of his death.

Urine tests reportedly showed the presence of multiple opiates, including hydrocodone, hydromorphone, oxycodone and oxymorphone.

The rapper’s death was a shock to his emo hip hop community, with ex-girlfriend Bella Thorne sharing on Twitter: ‘Peep you deserved more out of life. Life didn’t do your greatness justice.’
