Ranvir Singh ‘adores’ Strictly partner Giovanni after ‘deep and intense’ experience

Strictly: Ranvir says she ‘adores’ Giovanni

Ranvir Singh, 43, revealed on Good Morning Britain that she “adores” her former Strictly Come Dancing partner Giovanni Pernice, 30, amid weeks of speculation about a possible romance between them. The TV presenter discussed how she experienced a “deep” and “intense” connection with the Italian dancer, after weeks of performing together.

Susanna Reid spoke to Ranvir about her relationship with Giovanni, as she questioned their connection after spending prolonged periods of time at each other’s side.

Susanna said: “It is intense when you have been up close and personal with somebody else for such a long period of time and you have been pursuing the same journey… physically and emotionally for a very long time. Do you think you’ll stay friends with Giovanni now?”

Ranvir answered: “I’m going to see him today because we’re doing a group dance for Saturday, so I’ve actually got to go back into rehearsals for that.

“Yeah, I think we will. I mean I think we will stay friends. Why not? Because we have experienced something quite deep and quite intense actually.

“That’s a very special thing,” she added.

Ranvir admitted on Sunday’s result show that she was “sad” to have not reached the grand finale alongside Giovanni.

When asked by Strictly host Tess Daly about her time on the show, she said: “I’m just really sorry for him [Giovanni], he’s worked so hard and been in so many finals that I’m really sorry I couldn’t do it for you. Sorry.”

Giovanni responded: “You don’t have to be sorry at all, we’ve both worked very hard, you’ve been an absolute dream to work with.

“You are a true hero, your job at 3 o’clock in the morning then you come in the room and dance with me.

“More than anything, you’ve grown as a person and this for me is the most rewarding thing that I could ask for, so well done to you. Well done.”

Looking back on her time on the show, Ranvir continued: “There’s some really beautiful moments in there and so much more than I ever expected and I’m sad not to be in the final.

“But at the same time, I am glad that we’ve moved people to tears and the Argentine tango was an amazing moment.

“We’ve had some really fantastic memorable moments and I know I couldn’t have got this far without you.”

Ranvir and Giovanni were voted out of the contest by head judge Shirley Ballas, after they faced off against Jamie Laing and Karen Hauer in the bottom two.

Battling it out to become the winner of this series this coming Saturday will be HRVY, Maisie Smith, Bill Bailey and Jamie.

Meanwhile, on GMB, Ranvir also shared how the dance contest had helped with her self-esteem in her professional life.

Speaking on how she found her confidence on the show by remaining herself, Ranvir said: “I think because I was quite open and I didn’t really know how to pretend to be more enthusiastic…if I’m feeling a bit down or vice versa.

“I think honesty won the day in the end, even though it didn’t get me to the final.

“I think what’s lovely is loads and loads of people have found they can relate to my own insecurities.”
