Sam Faiers shares an Anne Frank quote alongside a glam Instagram photo

‘Totally distasteful and disrespectful’: Sam Faiers is slammed for sharing an Anne Frank quote alongside a glam photo as she urges her followers to ‘stay positive’ during lockdown

Sam Faiers has been criticised by some of her Instagram followers for being ‘distasteful and disrespectful’ after sharing an Anne Frank quote alongside a glam photo.

The Mummy Diaries star, 29, posted a photo of herself lounging on her bed in a green jumpsuit on Thursday morning, alongside the quote: ‘What a wonderful thought it is that some of the best days of our lives haven’t even happened yet’.

The quote is attributed to Anne Frank, the Jewish diarist who died during the Holocaust, with Sam adding the quip ‘couldn’t have set it better myself Anne Frank’ – – which she later deleted.

Anne posthumously gained fame with the publication of The Diary of a Young Girl which detailed her and her family’s two years in hiding during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands.

Sam also later added the hashtags ‘#annefrank #staypositive #focusonthegood’ to her Instagram post.

The reality star was slammed in the comments for her use of the quote alongside the photo and hashtags with one follower pointing out:

‘Yet poor Anne died at just 15 in a concentration camp.’ ‘Was just thinking this,’ wrote another follower in reply.

Famous quote: The Mummy Diaries star, 29,  later changed the caption to: ‘What a wonderful thought it is that some of the best days of our lives haven’t even happened yet’

‘I see no reason at all why you would compare a lockdown to protect and save lives to Anne Frank whose entire life and dignity was stripped from her, her family and over 6 million Jewish people so cruelly and deliberately erase lives. Please take the time to educate yourself and remove this reference immediately,’ agreed another.

‘Why are you hash tagging Anne frank? I see no similarity at all in your situations. Totally distasteful and disrespectful,’ added another.

‘Anne Frank?! Hoping this is just ignorance/a lack of research rather than being overtly disrespectful…. whilst posing on a bed,’ was another comment.

‘Please take the time out to read about Anne Frank,’ urged one more.

Critique: The quote is attributed to Anne Frank, the Jewish diarist who died during the Holocaust, as one of Sam’s followers soon pointed out

Others praised Sam though for her postive outlook, with one fan writing: ‘I haven’t heard this quote before but I LOVE it! So important to look forward rather than dwell on past or present too much… especially in 2020.’

‘Real talk! ❤️❤️❤️ Beautiful!’ agreed another.

Sam’s mother Suzie Wells, who also stars on her hit ITVBe show The Mummy Diaries gushed: ‘Beautiful girl.’

Sam later deleted any reference to Anne Frank in the post, changing the caption to ‘#staypositive #focusonthegood x’.

‘Distasteful’: ‘I see no reason at all why you would compare a lockdown to protect and save lives to Anne Frank whose entire life and dignity was stripped from her’ was another comment

The Diary of Anne Frank has sold more than 30 million copies and has been translated into 70 languages.

It has been included in lists of the best books of the 20th century while the Amsterdam building where Anne and seven others hid for two years draws over a million visitors each year.

Spending 1942 to 1944 hiding in an annex concealed behind a bookcase in the building where Anne’s father, Otto Frank worked, Anne wrote a daily diary.

In August 1944 the eight were arrested by the Gestapo and transported to concentration camps.

In October or November 1944, Anne and her sister, Margot, were transferred from Auschwitz to Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, where they died a few months later.
