Sir David Attenborough has hit the one million follower mark on Instagram, just four hours after sharing his first post.
Not too shabby, David.
The 94-year-old presenter dusted off his social media page today for the first time, to raise awareness of climate change.
Fans were clearly impressed with his message, clamouring to hit that follow button.
More than one million people are wanting to keep up with Sir David’s updates – which could be an Instagram record.
In his first ever post, the historian told followers: ‘I’ve been appearing on radio and television for the past sixty years, but this is my first time on Instagram.
‘I’m making this move and exploring this new way of communicating to me because, as we all know, the world is in trouble.
‘Continents are on fire, gases are melting. Coral reefs are dying, fish are disappearing from our oceans – the list goes on and on.
‘But we know what to do about it and that’s why I’m tackling this new way, for me, of communication.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be recording messages to explain what the problems are, and how we can deal with them. Join me, or as we used to say in radio, stay tuned.’
Sir David won’t be running the Instagram account himself, with Jonnie Hughes and Colin Butfield who worked with him on A Life On Our Planet – taking charge of posting his important messages.
