From academy graduate to first team regular – it’s been an incredible year for Scott McTominay.
After making his debut towards the back end of last season, the midfielder has gone on to feature in 20 appearances in all competitions this term.
At times, the Scotland international – because he was also called up to represent his country – has even taken club record signing Paul Pogba’s place in the team at times.
Michael Carrick even believes McTominay can be his successor at Old Trafford, such is the talent of the 21-year-old.
And it appears McTominay’s progress is all down to boss Jose Mourinho.
McTominay told Manchester United’s official website : "Jose Mourinho has been absolutely incredible to me this year. He’s helped me so much in terms of what I can do, from being more humble, to being better on the training pitch and just being a better person in general."
The midfielder added that Mourinho also gave him a warning before joining the first team.
"When I first came into the group he said ‘the players have to like you’ and it’s one of the most important things going into a new dressing room, that you are a likeable person and you get on with everybody. That has stood me in good stead.
"It’s important to be liked and on the pitch. It’s the manager having the faith to play me that’s been incredible and I can’t thank him enough."
