The Duke of Sussex, 36, made his first TV appearance in the UK since he and his wife Meghan Markle stepped down as senior members of the royal family earlier this year.

Prince Harry greeted JJ and professional dancer Amy Dowden on video, saying: ‘Nice tan JJ! When I first met JJ he was a shell of himself but then to see you shine through Invictus and to be yourself again, that was the start of an amazing journey.’

JJ, 33, who performed a jive to Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy by Bette Midler, told viewers: ‘The simple fact is, if Prince Harry had not created the Invictus Games, I wouldn’t have had that moment to change my life forever.’

Harry then added: ‘You’re definitely having an impact on society now especially when you’re wearing those tight blue shorts and the socks pulled up.

‘It doesn’t get better than that! I’m genuinely proud. You’re not a dancer, proving that you can actually do whatever you put your mind to which is amazing.’

Prince Harry and JJ met following the Royal Marine’s service in Afghanistan where he was injured in a bomb blast in 2011, with the pair bonding over their shared experiences in the armed forces.

JJ said he ‘should be in a box in the ground’ after nearly dying when an IED exploded near him causing him to suffer a crushed eye socket, burst eardrums and the loss of two fingers.

Camilla was at a tea dance at the Victory Services Club in London when she was invited to go toe to toe with the professionals to demonstrate how good dancing can be for your bone health.

The event was held by the British Dance Council – which was celebrating its 90th anniversary – in conjunction with The Royal Osteoporosis Society, of which the duchess is president.

In an impromptu speech Camilla said: ‘I can’t tell you how much I’ve enjoyed this morning. I love dancing. I have a grand-daughter who is passionate about it and maybe we will see her on Strictly one day.

‘I have had the pleasure of dancing with Craig [Revel Horwood] and now Len, so I feel very honoured, thank you very much indeed.

Star-studded: In 2017, Camilla welcomed the stars of Strictly to Buckingham Palace where she hosted a charity tea party (pictured with judges Craig and Shirley Ballas)

‘I just wanted to say as president of the Royal Osteoporosis Society, how important dancing is for our bones,’ Camilla added.

‘If we could get a lot more people onto the dancefloor we would be able to do a lot of good for osteoporosis. It’s that sort of exercise that improves your bones. Encourage your friends to keep dancing.’

In 2019, Strictly host Tess Daly revealed that Camilla and Prince Charles are fans of the show and they watch it together.

Talking to HELLO! magazine, the presenter, 51, who is married to I’m A Celebrity 2020 star Vernon Kay, said: ‘Camilla is a fan, she has been to visit us in the studio before and she spent half a day with us and it was wonderful.

In 2017, Camilla welcomed the stars of Strictly Come Dancing to Buckingham Palace where she hosted a charity tea party for the National Osteoporosis Society.

The Duchess of Cornwall enjoyed a waltz with former Strictly pro Brendan Cole who later praised her dancing skills.

‘She knows her way around a dance floor – don’t you worry about that,’ he said. ‘She was absolutely delightful.’

Cha-cha-cha! In 2009, on National Osteoporosis Day, Camilla and Strictly judge Craig, 55, famously did an impromptu cha-cha-cha at a London primary school (pictured)

Brendan added: ‘I didn’t know if I was breaking protocol or not but I did ask her if it was OK to ask her to dance, and she said “I’d love to”.

‘I thought somebody was about to grab me by the scruff of the neck and kick me out.’

Camilla was hosting a tea dance in her role as president of the National Osteoporosis Society, to highlight the benefits of older people staying active.

The Duchess of Cornwall was joined by a host of stars from the BBC show, including judges Craig Revel Horwood and Shirley Ballas.

In 2009, on National Osteoporosis Day, Camilla and Strictly judge Craig, 55, famously did an impromptu cha-cha-cha at a London primary school.

Talking about the moment in 2013, Craig said: ‘I was teaching the children how to learn the steps and Camilla was showing great interest. So I asked if she’d like to dance.

‘I suggested a ballroom hold. But she was having none of it. “No,” she said, “I’d like to learn the cha-cha-cha”, somewhat imitating the way I say it.

‘She’s a witty woman with a fantastic sense of humour. I could tell after a couple of steps that she’d obviously been practising. She’s also got natural rhythm.

‘She told me she adored the show, so I invited her to come to rehearsals one Friday. She loved it. She knew every dancer’s name.

‘Since then, we’ve done lots together for the [National Osteoporosis] Society. She sends me birthday and Christmas cards. The first time there was a special delivery from the palace, I thought it was my knighthood, dahling!’
