Do we want a cheeseburger, or do we want a pizza? We’ve all been in the same predicament. Decisions, decisions, decisions. However, last year the nation’s best loved pizza delivery chain, Domino’s, united two of the world’s most coveted foods to create a signature dish; The Cheeseburger Pizza.
But now there has been a welcome new addition to the much-loved hybrid – a hangover hack and an end to food envy. That’s right, Domino's have introduced The Ultimate Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza. This mash up of guilty pleasures comes packed with the hallmarks of a signature cheeseburger including double ground beef, 100% mozzarella cheese, fresh tomato, onions, gherkins and vine ripened tomato sauce, but now with the added bonus of bacon!
This new meaty all-rounder is now available in every Domino’s store across the UK and Ireland. Ian Straight, the Official Pizza Salesperson for the delivery chain, said: “Pizza is the most popular food in the world and the cheeseburger isn’t far behind, so this is clearly a match made in heaven.
“The Ultimate Bacon Cheeseburger pizza combines the wondrous flavours of 100% mozzarella, freshly seasoned beef and bacon with the unrivalled taste of Domino’s – what’s not to love! This new pizza is our Cheeseburger, but better, and I never thought we’d be able to say that.”
The firm expect the new Ultimate Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza to be a success because they sold a million of The Cheeseburger Pizzas in three months last year. A 13.5” large pizza is now available online for £19.99, which would probably be cheaper than ordering a Domino's pizza and then a bacon cheese burger. This new pizza is a part of a growing trend of hybrid foods.
Fried chicken chain KFC have recently released a new sandwich, that combines doughnuts and fried chicken. This combination of savoury and sweet, which the American fast-food chain is trialling in selected U.S stores, is made up of a crispy chicken fillet, seasoned with a secret blend of herbs and spices, which is then sandwiched between two sugar glazed doughnuts and costs $7.50 (£6.01).
They have also released a basket option, if the sandwich sounds too much to sink your teeth into. The basket consists of chicken on the bone or tenders with one doughnut. It costs $5.50 (£4.41). You are also able to add an additional doughnut to any of your orders for the bargain price of $1 (80p).
Although this stand-out sarnie is currently only available in a few branches of KFC in the United States, if it goes well then the offering will be rolled out nationwide.
