Santa’s “Nice” list just got a whole lot nicer.
If you need a little Christmas, look no further than the goodwill extended to a man who had fallen on hard times ahead of the holidays.
“I was driving down the freeway in Houston, and I saw this guy standing on the side of the road holding a sign that said ‘I Need a Bus Ticket to Alabama,’ and I wanted to help him out,” good Samaritan Frank Richardson, 63, told The Post of his altruistic encounter with then-stranger Doug Phelps on Saturday.
Phelps, 37, shared his hard-luck tale with Richardson — who captured their chance meeting on video — revealing he’d recently relocated to Texas seeking work in the construction field, but hadn’t been able to secure steady employment.
“He told me he came to Houston looking for work,” Richardson, a financial advisor of 40 years, said. “He didn’t have any money when he got here. He slept under some bridges, and it wasn’t pretty. He just wanted to go home for Christmas to see his family.”
And that’s exactly the gift Richardson gave Phelps.
