During the coronavirus pandemic, there aren’t many activities we can get stuck into.
Going on walks with members of our household is one of the only things we’re able to do at the moment.
So if you want to make rambles with the kids a bit more exciting, listen up.
Louise Pentland, an author and mum blogger, shared a top tip for turning the days out into a proper adventure.
She told her 2.5 million Instagram followers: “Confession – I hate walks.
“Doing scavenger/treasure hunts for the girls makes it just about bearable.”
Louise shared a picture of a scavenger hunt list she’d written down on the back of a Christmas card.
She asked her children Darcy, nine, and Pearl, two, to find nine pieces of treasure during their journey.
The kids were asked to look out for items like phone boxes, festive wreaths and pinecones.
And as they walked along outside, they happily ticked each category off the list.
Louise explained: “Ticking them off! Honestly this is such a hack for stopping the whinging and moaning. Try it!”
Even though 2020 has been a difficult one for everyone, Louise is taking some positives from it.
The writer says it's been a blessing to spend more quality time with her family – and she's even grateful for all the walking.
On Instagram, she wrote: "I’ll be the first to admit I hate walks but eff me I’ve been on a lot.
"The nice thing is I know my local area SO well know and feel like after four years of living here I’m really growing deep roots.
"I know my neighbours, I could give you some good village pub gossip, I know which roads have the best blossom trees for Insta haha. What a win!"
Louise added: "What a blessing to spend so much extra time with Liam and the girls.
"Definitely been a few ‘omg I want a solo holiday’ but overall it’s been so good.
"Darcy is such a deep thinker with so much to talk about and Pearl has boundless love and energy to give…
"Yes, 2020 has been more challenging than years before it but I’m choosing to take the BEST of it into 2021 with me."
