Taylor Swift surprised a delighted couple on their wedding day with a heartwarming personalized gift from the singer herself.
Swift is known to get friendly with her fans, or “Swifties” as they prefer to be called, but her latest example of altruism may just take the cake – the wedding cake, that is.
Alexas Gonzales and Brittany Lewis tied the knot last week at Noah’s Event Venue in Dickinson, Texas after 9 years together. The two dated in high school where Swift was a big part of their musical development.
In particular, Swift’s 2008 song “Love Story” is the couple’s song, with Brittany even quoting a lyric during her marriage proposal.
“So I talked to your dad, now it’s time to pick out a white dress…will you marry me?” Brittany said as per the couple’s wedding page. That’s not quite the same as the actual lyric, which is: “I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress, it’s a love story, baby just say yes.”
That didn’t seem to matter to Alexas, who naturally said yes when Brittany took a knee. “Our song has always been ‘Love Story’ by Taylor Swift so if you know the song you can see how adorable her saying that was!”
Somehow, news of the very Swiftian wedding proposal got back to the “Call It What You Want” singer herself and she decided to send a surprise to the recently engaged couple on their wedding day.
Without any warning, Brittany and Alexas were delighted to find a handwritten note from Swift along with a bouquet of flowers.
“Lexi & Brittany, you have no idea how honored I am that ‘Love Story’ has been such a big part of your beautiful love story,” wrote Swift. “I’m absolutely thrilled that Lexi said YES! Have the most magical wedding day and hopefully I can meet you both soon! Love, Taylor.”
Alexas posted photos of the present to her Twitter page, along with a caption saying she still can’t even. “Still In freaking shock that @taylorswift13 sent me and my amazing Hubby flowers on our wedding day!” Alexas gushed, following up with the hashtags #LoveStory, #SinceHighSchool, and #WeddingOfTheYear.
