Jason Garrett, Giants offensive coordinator, tests positive for COVID-19

The Giants are putting their emergency plan into action.

Offensive coordinator Jason Garrett tested positive for COVID-19 and will remain in isolation, thus elevating tight ends coach Freddie Kitchens to play-caller Sunday against the Browns, the team announced Thursday.

“We are currently working with the league’s chief medical officer regarding close contacts,” the Giants said in a statement. “Because of the league’s most updated protocols, Giants coaches and players did not meet on either Monday or Tuesday, and the majority of the coaching staff worked remotely.”

There appear to be no-high risk contacts who also would be in jeopardy of missing Sunday’s game, according to the Giants, who still are awaiting the NFL’s final call from reviewing contact tracing data.
