Now, though, everything seems to be coming together for connections, who will send their star prospect to Gowran on Saturday before a crack at the Cheltenham Gold Cup next month.
Presenting Percy's owner, Philip Reynolds, said on Tuesday: "I spoke to Pat this morning and he is very happy with Presenting Percy.
"He came out of the Galmoy Hurdle very well and has improved from that. Pat is happy with where he has him now and he has a measure to go on because we were in exactly the same place last year targeting the same race this weekend.

"Speaking to Pat he told me he was every bit as happy as he was this time last year."
The brilliant chaser won't have it all his way, though, as a strong field is set to line up against him.
Monalee, last seen finishing second in the Irish Gold Cup, has been confirmed for the race, as has the Willie Mullins pair of Killultagh Vic and Bachasson.
Edwulf and Anibale Fly could take their chance for owner JP McManus and the entries are completed by Gordon Elliott's Alpha Des Obeaux and A Toi Phil.
