Loved-up Brits take to the streets for boozy Valentine’s Day night out

Love was in the air last night as couples and singles alike braved Storm Dennis to celebrate Valentine's Day 2020.

Almost every city in the UK, from Cardiff to Leeds, saw partiers all dressed up and flocking to pubs, bars and clubs in the hopes of finding that special someone.

Some were seen brandishing bouquets, as professional flower-sellers flogged roses to starry-eyed lovers – or those who'd forgotten to buy a gift for their significant other.

Women didn't let the plunging temperatures stop them from wearing their skimpiest outfits.

Many were dressed in colours befitting Cupid himself – pink and red dresses were a common sight, although in classic British fashion black remained as popular as ever.

The night took a turn for the wild for some revellers, but fortunately they had friends to lean on – literally in some cases.

One girl was seen vomiting into a canal in Birmingham while her mates chatted over her.

Some sleepy romantics had a kip on the ground, with only love to keep them warm.

Others kept away the cold by munching piping-hot chips from the many takeaway shops open for business.

The night saw many new romances blossom, like this couple spotted canoodling in Birmingham city centre.

Another couple shared a smooch under an ambulance blanket as their friend was treated by paramedics.

But it wasn't all about romantic love, with friends keeping each other company on the curb in the early hours of the morning in Manchester city centre.

Some partygoers had too much fun, with West Midlands Police making one arrest for an unknown offence.

A video taken near a takeaway shop in Birmingham also captured a street punch-up – hardly in the spirit of Valentine's Day.

At the end of the night, many generous gents were seen giving their girlfriends a piggyback home to give them a break from their high heels. Can you get more romantic than that?
