Piers Morgan accused of ‘being on drugs’ by former friend Lord Sugar after GMB rant as feud escalates – The Sun

SIR Alan Sugar today accused Piers Morgan of being "on drugs" as the long-running feud between the former friends escalated.

Piers returned to Good Morning Britain after a week-long break – and launched into a rant about Dominic Cummings's trip to Durham during lockdown.

But following the tirade, Lord Sugar claimed his rival was "on drugs" because he was acting "hyper".

It comes after a 25-year friendship between the pair has soured.

He tweeted: "I have just watched the start of GMB.

"Morgan did not stop ranting for 10 minutes and did not come up for air.

"He must be on drugs he is so hyper.

"Susanna Reid just hmming every 2 mins."

Piers fumed this morning: "What Dominic Cummings has almost single-handedly done is destroyed the lockdown.

"By doing what he did, by refusing to even apologise, for refusing to admit that anything he did was wrong, even though none of us could do what he did at the time that he did it, by doing that, he has destroyed the lockdown, and trust in the Government."

Mr Johnson last month faced calls to fire his top aide after Mr Cummings drove from London to Durham with his sick wife and their son during the lockdown.

Lord Sugar's tirade is the latest in a series of blows exchanged between the pair.

Earlier this month, he labelled Piers an "obnoxious self-centred tosser", and before that, he said the GMB host doesn't really "give a s***" about the NHS.

Piers has made no public response to any of Lord Sugar's claims.

In a column for the Daily Mail in 2018, he said: "I’ve known Lord Sugar for 25 years.

"Contrary to the deliberate perception of mutual enmity that we fuel on Twitter, we’re actually very good friends.

"Yet we’re the kind of friends who delight in mocking each other at every opportunity – especially in public."

And he called the businessman "the single most cocky, smug, irritating wind-up merchant I know".

But last month in an interview with the Sunday Times, he admitted they are no longer pals.

"It's gone way beyond a joke, and for me, it's ruined our friendship," he said.

"I think we're done as friends. I can't see through the behaviour."
