A pregnant woman was shocked to see her dead grandmother’s face in a scan of her unborn baby.
Stephanie Jackson was told her baby boy was healthy at her 18-week scan .
But the 32-year-old was stunned when her mum pointed out something hidden in the image, the Liverpool Echo reports.
Stephanie said her mother noticed the ‘face’ of her grandmother – Mary Jackson – hovering just above the baby’s head.
Mary died 14 years ago – but Steph said she had been ‘praying’ to her grandmother for a baby because she wasn’t sure she and her partner would be able to have children.
Steph’s partner Michael Davies, who works for Knowsley Council, had a vasectomy before the pair met – leaving them unsure they would ever be able to conceive.
However, since Michael had the procedure reversed last year, the expectant mum has been praying to her grandmother to give the couple a baby.
Steph said: “I only got [the scan] done yesterday and didn’t even see it. It was my mum who pointed it out to me. When I saw it I was like ‘oh my God!’
“She said ‘there’s your nan’ and I was so happy. I recognised her instantly. I’ve been crying since yesterday. It has made me dead emotional. We lost her 14 years ago.”
The mum-to-be, who will be welcoming her first baby with partner Michael in July, said her friends and family can all see grandmother Mary in the scan too.
However, her partner Michael, who has two children from a previous relationship, couldn’t make the image out quite as clearly.
Steph said: “My aunties and cousins and all that said they thought she was looking down on everyone and could see it instantly.
“I rang my partner and he said people are stopping him in work saying ‘that picture is crazy’. He said he can barely make something out. People are stopping him and saying ‘that picture’s amazing’.
“I’ve not stopped crying. It’s just amazing. I’m happy and dead positive to know 14 years on she’s still around us.”
Steph’s uncle died last week and the family all attended the funeral on Friday, where Steph says they could “feel her nan around them.”
The expectant mum said: “All the family were together for the first time in a while and we were all talking about her. Everyone was touching my bump and saying this and there she was.
“I was praying last year to her because we didn’t know if we would be able to have children. My partner had a vasectomy.
“I prayed to my nan to bring us a baby because he had the reversal last year. She’s looking down on me, 100%.”
Steph even visited a medium last year, who left her with “goosebumps” after telling her she could she could see her grandmother “putting a baby on her lap”.
The bizarre experience has left Steph feeling touched to know her grandmother is still looking down on her.
She said: “I believe this is her way of saying everything will be OK as I have been extremely worried during this pregnancy and to let us know she is still around.”
