STORE chain Target will give all hourly employees a $500 bonus to say "thank you" for their work during the coronavirus pandemic.
The latest sweetener is the fifth time Target has rewarded workers for their efforts during the Covid crisis – with today's latest payout totalling a massive $200 million.
The company announced Monday that it would say "thank you" to 375,000 frontline staff.
Target tweeted: "We're saying thank you to 375,000 of our frontline team members with a $500 bonus in the new year."
A statement on the Target website reads: "We’re so proud of our team. They're the heart and soul of Target, showing up for one another and our guests—and making Target a safe and easy place to shop and work.
"And never has their dedication, resiliency, care and compassion been more appreciated than during the pandemic."
It continued: "To show our gratitude as we wrap a year unlike any other, Target is giving $500 bonuses to all hourly team members in stores, distribution centers and our headquarters and field-based offices."
The company – considered an "essential retailer" – will also give bonuses to all Store Directors, Executive Team Leaders and salaried Distribution Center leaders – with each payment ranging from $1,000 to $2,000.
It follows the retail giant claiming it spent $1billion more on the health, safety and wellbeing of its employees in 2020 compared to the year before.
Target also said it is extending coronavirus benefits in 2021 to help team members and their families navigate the impact of the pandemic.

The company updated its benefits policies several times last year as a result of the virus outbreak.
All employees will gain access to free virtual healthcare, quarantine and confirmed illness pay, and a backup family care benefit, Target has said.
A survey of more than 50 major U.S. retailers last year by consulting firm Korn Ferry found that 43% of essential retailer respondents say they have increased hourly pay, while 17% say they offered a bonus, and 22% said they are offering both increased hourly pay and a bonus.
