Autumn hair colour trends: From 'tweed blonde' to 'glazed olive brunette'

It might not feel like it, given how balmy it is outside, but autumn is around the corner.

We’ve passed midsummer, so it’s time to look at AW22 hair colour trends.

Wella Professionals and salon owner Jordanna Cobella have put together their colour trend predictions for the coming cold season.

From baby blonde to deep brunette, there’s a shade here for everyone to play with.

Tweed blonde

A step on from Kim Kardashian’s icy bob, Jordanna says: ‘I’m noticing more clients embracing a neutral, natural blonde, with cool and warm tones finely woven together to create this harmonious blonde look.

‘This multi-dimensional look imitates how light would reflect on natural hair.’

Wella Professionals’ in-salon Shinefinity service can help achieve this, as glazes can be woven throughout the hair to create a tweed effect.

Golden hour glow

Blonde is getting an update, as there’s an increase in people wanting warmer, richer tones that are ‘nourishing and optimistic’.

Jordanna says: ‘We’re seeing this trend transfer across to hair, with clients embracing warm golden honeycomb tones post-pandemic.

‘The beige blonde trend has embraced a warmer palette with highs and lows of nude, beige, and sandy tones.

‘These warmer tones tend to reflect light more than ashier hues, so will help the appearance of shine on the hair.’

This can be a common problem on blonde dos.

Bronzed wood

Jordanna says: ‘Shades of brown dominated AW22 Fashion Week, and designers such as Chloe, Chanel, and Acne displayed the versatility and richness of this hue.

‘The comforting nature of the shade makes it incredibly popular.’

Bronzed wood is a mixture of subtle caramel, butterscotch hues with darker neutral tones running throughout the hair.

She adds: ‘Muted multi-dimensional hues add depth and movement to the hair.

‘What really makes the Bronzed wood shade pop on the client’s hair is its luxurious shine, making the shade look gorgeously rich.’

Glazed olive brunette

An interesting one for brunettes, Jordanna predicts ‘brunettes will see an autumnal re-fresh with calming dark olive and violet tones added to remove any warmth and add depth and a pop of unexpected colour.

‘Glazed Olive Brunette looks it’s best when the hair has a luxurious shine.’
