Dr. Dre Shared a Shirtless Selfie and Joined Will Smith’s Fitness Challenge

Dr. Dre is back and ready for a swole summer. Joining celebrities like Marlon Wayans and Anthony Anderson, Dre revealed to his 5.6 million followers on Instagram earlier today that he’s fully onboard with Will Smith’s viral challenge to get fit in 90 days.

“This is my COVID body. I’m about to start getting my shit together,” he wrote. “Going in with @willsmith. Let’s Go!!!”

In the photo, Dre is shown standing in an empty gym clad in a white tee and black sweats, lifting up his shirt to show off his visibly defined abs and muscular physique. In other words, it looks like the rapper and entrepreneur already has a pretty solid head start on his “transformation.”

Smith himself put that sentiment best in the comments: “Damn! Your covid body is the rest of our best shape, Dre!” he joked. Men’s Health contributor and personal trainer Bobby Maximus added some words of motivation. “Let’s get it. I love this. Need anything at all I got you 🔥,” he wrote.

It’s all the more impressive considering Dre’s recent health struggles. In early January, Dre, 56, experienced a brain aneurysm, which required a long period of hospitalization. Days after the incident, he posted a somber, black-and-white photo of himself in the studio, thanking everyone for their well wishes.

Now fully recovered, Dre appears primed to hit the gym and take his workouts to the next level. As with anyone returning to the gym after a long hiatus, however, the key is to do it safely and with a healthy balance of strength, cardio, and mobility. Thankfully, Men’s Health fitness director and trainer Ebenezer Sameul, CSCS, already took the trouble of coming up with a few tips for all over-50 men trying to get shredded in time for summer.
