Observations from Tuesday’s Yankees workout:

Funky Cold Medina

Aaron Boone made a point of watching right-hander Luis Medina’s bullpen session at the minor league complex after the 21-year-old opened eyes with a strong showing in winter ball in Puerto Rico.

“I wouldn’t put anything past him because the talent is special,’’ Boone said. “He’s somebody we’re very excited about. … You never know what can happen this year. We feel he has a bright future, a major league future.”

Late Arrival

Estevan Florial was the lone player not to make it to camp on time, according to Boone, because the outfielder had visa issues.

Caught My Eye

Normally, there would have been plenty of fans in the stands for the first workout at George M. Steinbrenner Field. Fans will be allowed at games this spring, but so far, it’s been very quiet.

Wednesday’s Schedule

Full-squad workouts continue, with position players at Steinbrenner Field and pitchers and catchers at the minor league complex.
