Aaron Rodgers emerges at Kentucky Derby: ‘Disappointed’ with Packers drama

Aaron Rodgers doesn’t appear to be sweating the Packers’ Day 3 picks at the NFL Draft.

The star quarterback instead is taking in the Kentucky Derby with fiancee Shailene Woodley, Packers offensive tackle David Bakhtiari and actor Miles Teller, among others. Bakhtari’s fiancee, Frankie Shebby, posted the group photo to Instagram on Saturday morning.

It comes as Rodgers is trying to force his way off the Packers over lingering frustration with their decision to draft his heir apparent, Jordan Love, a year ago.

Rodgers, who has yet to speak publicly on the situation, declined an interview with NBC while at the horse racing event. However, host Mike Tirico did relay that Rodgers told him that he was “disappointed that news has come out of this rift with the Packers.”

The Packers have maintained they have no intention of trading Rodgers, who has told members of the organization and teammates that he does not plan on returning to Green Bay. Rodgers’ future with the franchise may come down to an ultimatum, however.

Rodgers has made it known to team president Mark Murphy that his issues are with general manager Brian Gutekunst and he won’t return if Gutekunst remains, Yahoo Sports reported on Saturday.

“I certainly look back to last year’s draft and just kind of maybe some of the communication issues we could have done better,” Gutekunst said this week of the decision to trade up and select Love.

“There’s no doubt about it. The draft’s an interesting thing. It can kind of unfold differently than you think it’s going to unfold, and it happens pretty fast. But certainly, I think, looking back on it sitting where we sit today, there could have been some communication things we did better.”
