ARSENAL fans could not contain their excitement after Liverpool's unbeaten league run came to an end and ensured their Invincibles crown remains intact.
Supporters claimed they will now focus on a "top four finish" as they mocked Jurgen Klopp's side for failing to match their unbeaten 2003/04 season.
Liverpool were seven points clear and unbeaten after 20 league games ahead of Thursday's trip to the Etihad.
But goals from Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane saw the defending champions close the gap on Jurgen Klopp's men.
And Arsenal fans flocked to social media to celebrate the result ahead of this weekend's FA Cup clash against Blackpool.
One supporter said: "Literally don't care about the rest of the season at the top now, it's not going to be us, another team isn't taking our invincibles title.
"Liverpool can win every remaining game 6-0, whatever. Best we can wish for is top four anyway."
Another added: "No new invincibles and Spurs probably not going to win, just need 4th place now and this is a quintessential Arsenal season."
The Gunners, who went 22 games unbeaten in all competitions this season, are fifth in the Premier League table.
But the fans just seem happy that Liverpool can no longer go the whole season without a defeat – like Arsenal did in the 2003/04 campaign.
Pictures of Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp were plastered over Twitter and a number of users commented: "Happy Invincibles Day."
Another boasted: "Still the only side to go through a Premier League season unbeaten. Invincibles."
Liverpool's defeat to Man City also made Dejan Lovren look daft.
Ahead of the game, the centre-back was asked about matching Arsenal's record.
He said: "There are always records to beat. Everything is possible when you believe and you work hard.
"Of course, you need the luck to go your way also, but why not? It is a challenge for us and every player here.
"Will it be possible? Let's see at the end of the season."
That Lovren endured a torrid evening at the Etihad only make his comments more haunting.
Klopp's side will return to Premier League action against Brighton after this weekend's FA Cup clash against Wolves at the Molineux Stadium.
