Arsenal transfer target Emiliano Buendia 'accepts he must wait until summer' to seal £40m move from Norwich

ARSENAL target Emi Buendia will have to wait until the summer to seal his dream move to the Emirates, according to reports.

The Gunners have been chasing the Norwich playmaker, 24, as they look to add some much-needed creativity to their midfield.

Buendia has been involved in 14 goals in just 20 Championship games, with the Canaries currently top of the second tier.

However, with Norwich pushing for promotion they've slapped a £40million price-tag on his head.

The sky-high fee has put Arsenal off making a January move, with both parties willing to wait until the summer, according to Goal.

Buendia is keen to move to Arsenal and had initially hoped to join this month.

However, it's claimed the Argentine is willing to stay until the end of the season in a bid to help Norwich break back into the Premier League.

Carrow Road chief Daniel Farke recently claimed it would make 'no sense' to sell Buendia this month.

Farke said: "He is a proper team-mate, concentrated in the training sessions and the last game.

"He is absolutely happy and knows he has a coach and team-mates who want him to be successful and love him.

"Nothing will happen. In this business you can never say 100 per cent guarantee, but I would label it 99 per cent.

"It makes no sense for any of my key players to leave at this moment.

"And it makes no sense for us as a club right now to sell any of my players.

"These players have the potential to play for one of the best clubs in this country, and Arsenal [are] definitely one of the best in this country and also Europe.

"They have the potential to play there one day, but it makes no sense in January. Let's be honest we are in a great position."

Meanwhile, Arsenal have signed Brighton goalkeeper – and boyhood Gunners fan – Mat Ryan on loan until the end of the season.
