Aston Villa and Wolves interested in Craig Dawson transfer with David Moyes to decide defenders future | The Sun

ASTON VILLA and Wolves are both interested in signing Craig Dawson from West Ham, according to reports.

Dawson, 32, has fallen down the pecking order at the London Stadium in recent weeks.

The defender is currently out of action with a thigh injury, but he will likely struggle to break back into the starting line-up following the arrivals of Thilo Kehrer and Nayef Aguerd.

And with the transfer window due to shut in just three days, he could be set for a last-minute move away.

According to The Telegraph, Aston Villa and Wolves are both battling for Dawson's signature.

Villa boss Steven Gerrard expressed an interest in signing the defender last week after hearing of new boy Diego Carlos' long-term injury prognosis.

The former Liverpool skipper is seeking an experienced player to help with his side's defensive worries.

Meanwhile, Wolves are also short at the back with Conor Coady on loan at Everton and Willy Boly on the verge of a permanent move away.

Dawson is claimed to be unhappy at West Ham so he could attempt to force a late move.

And with less than one year remaining on his current contract, Hammers chiefs could decide to cash-in.

However, David Moyes is reluctant to sell at this stage in the transfer window.
