Christian Pulisic gave Thomas Tuchel's Blues the lead on 28 minutes against the Baggies.
But just one minute later Thiago Silva was sent off for a second bookable offence.
And in first half stoppage time, Matheus Pereira bagged a quickfire double to turn the game on its head.
Callum Robinson and Mbaye Diagne then looked to have put the game completely beyond Chelsea but Mason Mount has given the Blues hope.

Darnell Furlong picked up the ball on the right hand side in acres of space, looked up, then whipped in a fantastic cross.
And Callum Robinson who just loves a goal against Chelsea, hit it on the first time volley into the roof of the net.
That was an amazing finish and ironically, all four of Robinson's Premier League goals have come against the Blues.
You just couldn't write it.

Chelsea dominated possession for around 25 minutes but they were sloppy and it was strange because them scoring was the worst thing that they could have done.
Moments after Christian Pulisic put the Blues 1-0 up, Thiago Silva went and got himself sent off after a reckless challenge.
That led up to Pereira beating the offside trap and lobbing Mendy after one long pump from Sam Johnstone.
And the second followed shortly with Pereira slotting the ball in the bottom corner leaving Mendy stranded.
What a first half.
