Cheltenham Festival 2021 countdown: ITV to show six races a day for the first time as part of bumper live coverage

THERE may not be a traditional 'Cheltenham roar' as the flag goes down this year at the Festival.

But the show must go on and we have you covered with all the latest must have build-up as the big one edges closer.

ITV Boost

TV punters were given a big boost as ITV Racing announced they would be showing six races from each day for the first time.

Coverage usually ends after the fifth race each afternoon, but thanks to a new agreement between right holders, punters are in for a special treat.

The move is for one year only with the increasing likelihood the meeting will be held entirely behind closed doors.

Each day's first race will now go off at an earlier than usual 1.20pm so that ITV can go off air by 4pm.

Roksana camp coy on target

After Allmankind extended his unbeaten chasing record in the Kingmaker Chase, trainer Dan Skelton said his team will leave it late to decide Roksana's Festival target.

She is entered in both the Paddy Power Stayers' Hurdle and the Mares' Hurdle, a race she won in 2019.

She is a general 5-1 poke for the latter, and as big as 12-1 for the Stayers' Hurdle.

Gold Cup hopefuls on trial

It's a big weekend around the corner with a Gold Cup market shake-up potentially in the offing.

Colin Tizzard's Lostintranslation could run at Ascot or Newbury this weekend. He needs to prove his last two efforts were just blips, but was a creditable third in last year's Gold Cup.

He'll be much shorter than the 25-1 available right now if he runs well this Saturday or Sunday.

Paul Nicholls' Cyrname will be hoping to stake a claim and bounce back from his King George flop.

Nicky Henderson's Champ is currently the shortest of the three in the Gold Cup at 8-1 and will contest this Sunday's Game Spirit over two miles.
