The Denmark international has impressed in his 11 appearances since joining the Bees on a sixth-month contract in January, including a goal at Stamford Bridge in a 4-1 thrashing of Chelsea back in April.

The 30-year-old has bagged a goal and four assists for the Bees in his short time back in the game, including two assists in his last three games.

Brentford have been Eriksen's first club back in football since the midfielder collapsed on the pitch after suffering a cardiac arrest during a Euro 2020 match in June 2021.

The Dane was given cardiopulmonary resuscitation and was later fitted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator, which Serie A do not permit, so his contract with Inter Milan was consequently terminated.

Brentford were just three points above the drop zone, having played more games than all the teams below them, before Eriksen made his first start for them.

The west London side went on to win seven of the ten games that Eriksen started, ensuring a 13th place finish in the side's first season in the top flight since 1947, surviving by 11 points.

Newcastle are also deemed to be impressed by Eriksen's fightback to form and have taken a liking to the idea of the Dane donning their black and white stripes next season.

Eddie Howe's Magpies are looking to build on a highly promising second half of the season by challenging for European places in the next campaign.

There's also talk of a return to Tottenham, where the attacking midfielder spent six-and-a-half years before the current Spurs boss Antonio Conte bought him while manager of Inter Milan.

Eriksen made more than 300 appearances for Tottenham, grabbing 69 goals and 90 assists.

Manchester United had been linked with Eriksen even throughout his Tottenham days, and the Red Devils still like the look of him, according to Sky Bet.

Eriksen was linked with a move to Ajax when news emerged that he would no longer be allowed to play for Inter Milan.

The then Ajax boss, Erik ten Hag, has been named as the new Manchester United manager, and is desperate to improve his squad that finished down in sixth this season, 13 points off the top four.
