Cristiano Ronaldo shows off September Player of the Month trophy and thanks fans after stunning return to Man Utd

CRISTIANO RONALDO’S fairytale return to Manchester United continues after he was named the club’s Player of the Month for September.

The 36-year-old beamed as he collected the latest gong to go with the Premier League accolade he collected last week.

Red Devils fans voted CR7 as their best player for last month after seeing him notch five goals on his return to the club.

The forward released a short video message thanking fans on United’s official website.

He said: “Thank you to all the fans for voting me for player of the month, thank you guys!"

Ronaldo was also named Premier League Player of the Month – winning the award for the first time in thirteen years.

He scooped the trophy for the fifth time in his United career, beating Liverpool’s Mo Salah on this occasion.

The latest Prem award recognises Ronny’s three goals in three league games last month.

Those strikes came as his team-mates struggled to find the net and questions were raised over boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

United have won just once in their last four games before the recent international break.

They drew with Everton last time out, with Ronaldo storming down the tunnel in anger after the final whistle.

But his fine goalscoring form has continued for his country after he bagged a world record tenth international hat-trick for Portugal on Tuesday.
