David Luiz aims subtle dig at Arsenal and reveals he left because 'my idea is to win as soon as possible'

DAVID LUIZ is out to win trophies this season after leaving Arsenal and the club's 'long term' project.

Although the 34-year-old won the FA Cup and Community Shield in a two-year spell at the Emirates, he parted ways with the Gunners earlier this summer in pursuit of further silverware.

Brazilian defender Luiz has outlined to the Mail how he believes it could take years for Arsenal to finally return to the top.

He stated: "Both of us decided to split.

"I came for two years and the aim was to win something, which I did.

"Now, I think the club has a different project for the long term.

"They have different ideas. My idea is to win, win, win as soon as possible."

Luiz is still yet to find a new club with the new Premier League season about to get underway.

Any prospective bidders need not worry about his fitness levels, with the centre-back showing off his ripped physique on a strict training regime.

Mario Balotelli's Adana Demirspor and a shock return to Paris Saint-Germain have been touted as potential destinations.

But Luiz is still searching for a perfect offer and is open to remaining in England.

He added: "It will be the same as before: a club with ambition.

"The offers so far, they did not touch my heart. I want to stay at a high level. Maybe that will be in the Premier League.

"I am working every single day. I want pressure, to be fighting for titles.

"I want that feeling of having to win every single week. That is why I have always played football, and why I still play. I want to feel alive."
