Jamie Redknapp tells Chelsea to sign a ‘natural finisher’ if they want to win the Premier League again

JAMIE REDKNAPP blamed Chelsea’s missed opportunities on the lack of a ‘natural finisher’ and urged them to sign someone like Didier Drogba.

The ex-Liverpool midfielder warned that Chelsea will not win the Premier League without someone like their legendary striker.

Chelsea missed a hatful of chances in drawing 1-1 with Man Utd on Thursday night.

Cristiano Ronaldo secured the draw with a stunning goal just two minutes after Marcos Alonso found the back of the net.

Redknapp told Sky Sports: “I think Thomas Tuchel will think how have they not won this game. The amount of opportunities they had on the right side.

“Werner’s not a natural finisher. Havertz, I love his movement.

"But they haven’t got that goalscorer like a Drogba or Costa who’s going to get you the 20 or 25 goals that you are going to need to win the title and that’s really where they have come up short.”

Romelu Lukaku was meant to be the answer to Chelsea’s inconsistency in front of goal, costing the club a staggering £97million which set a club-record with his signing, but he has failed to make his mark and show he was a wise investment.

Scoring a meager five goals this season he has not been a crowd pleaser and after just four months in West London, he expressed his desire to leave.

He has also said he is “not happy” at Chelsea and blamed coach Thomas Tuchel’s tactics, adding that the big money move was a mistake.

The Belgium international has reportedly asked to return to the Serie A giants Inter Milan even having video calls with the club, but there has also been interest from PSG who may be Lukaku’s ticket out of Stamford Bridge.

Redknapp believes a consistent goal scorer like Drogba or Diego Costa is what Chelsea needs to challenge for silverware, both having incredible runs of form in the blue kit in the past.
