Lakers forward Montrezl Harrell causes stir with ominous tweet

Lakers forward Montrezl Harrell caused a stir on Tuesday night after posting an ominous message on Twitter.

“Think it’s time I call it quits to everything and everyone!” Harrell wrote.

It was unclear what exactly he was referring to, and he followed it up with another tweet: “This the times I need you the most Ma! Hurts you not here for me to just call and laugh!”

Harrell appears to be referring to his late grandmother, who passed away in July while he was competing in the NBA playoff bubble with the Clippers. Harrell returned in August before the playoffs officially started.

Lakers owner and president Jeanie Buss was one of many NBA figures to respond to Harrell’s tweet.

“We love you Montrezl,” Buss tweeted, with a heart emoji. “Here is a hug until I can see you.”

Harrell is having a strong season for the Lakers, averaging 13.8 points and 6.4 rebounds in 24.1 minutes per game.
