Leicester outcast Islam Slimani set to join Lyon as transfer replacement for Atletico Madrid-bound Moussa Dembele

ISLAM SLIMANI is reportedly set to end his Leicester hell by joining French outfit Lyon.

And it will be a merry-go-round of transfers, with Moussa Dembele leaving Lyon to join Atletico Madrid.

Respected Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that Slimani will be Dembele's 'replacement'.

He adds that 'the agreement with Leicester is set to be completed in the next hours – medicals pending'.

Atletico Madrid are desperately trying to add to their forward line after they released Diego Costa for personal reasons.

SunSport exclusively revealed that West Ham wanted the former Celtic and Fulham man to be the one to replace Sebastian Haller.

He left to join Ajax after a miserable spell in East London for around £20million.

But the Hammers look set to be beaten to the signing of Dembele by Atletico.

Slimani, meanwhile, will be relieved to get his move to Lyon over the line.

The 32-year-old has failed to hold down a regular starting spot ever since joining for a club-record fee of £29m in 2016.

He has made only 23 starts in all competitions, and has spent time out on loan with Newcastle, Fenerbahce and Monaco.

Atletico Madrid were interested in Napoli's Arkadiusz Milik and Real Sociedad's Willian Jose before turning to the Dembele.

The 24-year-old joined Fulham from Paris Saint-Germain at the age of 16 and became a regular for the Whites upon their drop into the Championship in 2014.

He joined Celtic two years later after running down his Craven Cottage contract and scored 51 goals in 94 games for the Scottish giants before sealing a £19.7million switch to Lyon.

Dembele's first two seasons with the Ligue 1 outfit were prolific but he has managed just one goal this term.
