How do West Ham go through?

West Ham need to win to make it through to the Europa League semi-finals.

Since the away-goal rule has been scrapped, both teams will have to pick up the W tonight in Lyon.

Therefore, if the match ends in a draw then we are going to extra-time and penalties – if needed.

This is expected to be a tough clash for David Moyes' men…

    Head to head

West Ham and Lyon faced off for the first time ever last week at the London Stadium.

As mentioned, the match ended in a 1-1 draw thanks to Jarrod Bowen's opener for the Hammers and Tanguy Ndombele's equaliser.

The East Londoners' only match with a French side before that was against Metz in the 1999 Intertoto Cup.

West Ham lost 1-0 at home but won 3-1 away with goals by Trevor Sinclair, Frank Lampard and Paulo Wanchope

    Good evening from Lyon

Welcome to our live coverage of West Ham's Europa League quarter-final second-leg clash against Lyon at the Groupama Stadium.

The Hammers' first leg against the French giants finished in a 1-1 draw at the London Stadium last week.

Jarrod Bowen opened the scoring on 52 minutes but Tottenham loanee Tanguy Ndombele equalised after 66 minutes.

West Ham manager David Moyes will be without Aaron Cresswell, who was sent off in London.

Kurt Zouma is also a doubt after an ankle injury in the 2-0 loss against Brentford.

And Ben Johnson is still on the mend as a result of some ongoing tight hamstring issues.

Lyon manager Peter Bosz also has some big availability troubles of his own.

First-choice goalkeeper Anthony Lopes limped out against Strasbourg, while Ndombele and Houssem Aouar, who are in the squad, were casualties of thigh and knee issues respectively.

Bosz is also dealing with Maxence Caqueret's knee injury and Thiago Mendes' knock.

Lucas Paqueta, Rayan Cherki, Lenny Pintor and Sinaly Diomande are also sidelined
