Man Utd looking to hire 'recruitment analyst' and transfer scouts for France and Spain as backroom overhaul continues

MANCHESTER UNITED are planning a scouting overhaul in a desperate bid to find world-class talent.

Jobs for first-team scouts in Spain and France, as well as a recruitment analyst, are up for grabs at Old Trafford.

Applicants can apply on the club's website but will be under pressure to unearth rough diamonds capable of restoring United to their former glory under boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Talent spotters in Spain and France will be tasked with attending and watching matches in their respective areas and completing scouting reports and providing player ratings.

While the new recruitment analyst will need to process and study reports that come in and "identify players who demonstrate the potential to play for the first team".

United's drive to find young talent is a completely different approach to recent years where they signed older stars like Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Bastian Schweinsteiger.

In fact, they sent eight scouts to this month's Euros Under-21 Championship as they up their search for the future generation.

Turn to youth

The Red Devils have so far signed 21-year-old pair Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

They are also in the market for promising England stars Jadon Sancho, 19, Declan Rice, 20, and Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff, 21.

Sporting Lisbon ace Bruno Fernandes, 24, and Aston Villa workhorse John McGinn, 24 – who are both also being targeted – look old in comparison.

Should United land most of their targets, they could line up with an average age of just 22 next season.

Shortly before Wan-Bissaka completed his £50million transfer from Crystal Palace, United chief executive Ed Woodward sent an internal email to staff promising more "exciting" signings who will work "long-term".

He said: "Despite the inflated nature of the transfer market and constant speculation and stories, which can be misleading, the recruitment team – in conjunction with the manager – are working calmly behind the scenes to bring in other exciting players that fit their long-term vision for the club.”

Solskjaer, 46, insists United are only in the market for passionate players who are willing to work hard for the team.

He said of Wan-Bissaka: "He has the right work ethic, talent and mentality to play for Manchester United and he fits exactly the type of player that we are looking to bring into the squad to help us improve and push on further.

“Aaron is a young, hungry player and eager to learn and that’s important at his age. I am delighted he has signed with us and we look forward to continuing his tremendous development so far."
