Man Utd 'make contact with Getafe midfielder Mauro Arambarri' with Premier League giants poised to make transfer offer

MANCHESTER UNITED are interested in signing Getafe midfielder Mauro Arambarri, according to reports.

The Premier League giants are believed to have made contact with the 25-year-old's representatives over a possible summer move.

According to Spanish newspaper AS, the Red Devils are one of many big European clubs monitoring the Uruguay international.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side, however, are said to be the most keen on a move and have made contact with Arambarri's people.

The report claims United see him as a player that can complement Bruno Fernandes' abilities.

And as Arambarri has a rumoured €25million release clause – around £21.5m – he would come relatively cheap in today's market.

There are even rumours that Getafe would accept as little as £17m for the midfielder.

Solskjaer may feel the need to improve his midfield as the jury is still out on a number of current Old Trafford stars, including Fred and £39m signing Donny van de Beek.

Arambarri has enjoyed a significant rise since joining the LaLiga outfit in 2017.

His impressive form saw him handed his Uruguay debut in October 2020, appearing in a 2-1 win against Chile.

The combative midfielder has appeared 33 times in LaLiga this season, scoring three goals and picking up 10 yellow cards.

United have also been linked with Atletico Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente, although he plays in a more advanced role than Arambarri.

And there are rumours suggesting Cristiano Ronaldo will return to Old Trafford after his agent ruled out a move a to Portuguese champions Sporting Lisbon.
